KY Main Street Unveils New Logo

March 13, 2009 – K-Squared Designs, Murray’s Graphic and Website Design firm, was recently chosen to create a logo that will be used statewide for the Kentucky Main Street Program to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

The newly created logo was unveiled during a celebration, on February 26, at the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort. Nearly 100 local main street managers and board members from across the Commonwealth attended the event saluting the 30th anniversary of the Kentucky Main Street Program, the oldest and one of the largest statewide main street revitalization programs in the nation. The celebration took place in conjunction with Preservation Day in Frankfort sponsored by Preservation Kentucky, Inc., the statewide preservation advocacy and education organization.

The new logo, a rendered drawing of buildings along a historic Kentucky Main Street - encompassed within a silohette of the state Commonwealth, was well received with a plethora of applause at the unveiling.

When creating this logo, Justin Kimbro, senior designer, had to conceptualize an image that would represent more than 80 communities who would be using it in their individual programs. Kimbro said, “The most challanging aspect, in creating a logo of such magnitude, is trying to capture the charm, the personality and characteristics of over 80 Kentucky Main Street Programs within one image. Our mission was to create something that every Main Street Program could use to assist in their marketing efforts throughout their communities while utilizing a consistent statewide branding.”

K-Squared Designs’ owner and senior Designer, Justin Kimbro, also spoke alongside a panel of experts with expertise in downtown economic development, graphic design, branding, website promotion and marketing. Justin presented his panel discussion topics on utilizing internet marketing, advertising and online technology to overcome the current economic downturn.
